The Gloucester Traditional Karate Association has been teaching Meibukan Goju-Ryu Karate-do in the City of Gloucester (now part of the City of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada) since 1985. It is one of the few schools in the area teaching this style of Karate-do. The Gloucester Traditional Karate Association is the Canadian Headquarter of the All American Meibukan Association under the late Master Mirakian of Watertown, Mass. USA
Traditional Okinawa Goju-ryu Karate-do training is strenuous and disciplined. The emphasis is on repetitious practice of basic technique and kata. This intense and demanding training affords our students the best long term results.
Traditional Karate-do is a life long commitment. It is not a short term course. Because of this, it lets the students improve their health and self-discipline, as it strengthens their bodies and cultivates their minds.
The chief instructor of GTKA is Mr. Hing-Poon Chan, 7th Dan, Kyoshi, who started his Goju-ryu training in 1968. The Gloucester Traditional Karate Association is a non-profit organization under the City of Ottawa recreation group.
